New music 9/23

With a fresh batch of projects across pop, rap and country, 2023 is proving to be an impressive year for musicians. Listen to a young pop star seeking to eclipse her smash-hit debut, an alt-rock icon returning to the styles of their earliest days and more.

Hip-hop fans are in for a treat with projects from Rod Wave and Polo G as well as Kid Laroi’s floating vocal melodies on his single, HEAVEN. Also hear YK Osiris’s gritty production on the house inspired track, Tell Me.

Camylio – High

A solitary figure clad in his signature oversized black hoodie, Camylio stands in front of a dark backdrop, with an ivory keyboard and microphone at his feet, ready to blow the world away. He’s not a pop star or a dancer, but that hasn’t stopped the millions who flock to his TikTok channel to see and hear him.

Camylio’s evocative and raw vocals compliment Quarterhead’s energetic production, resulting in a classic house anthem that captures the euphoric feeling of being in love. It is a heartfelt ode to the transformative power of love, a bond that can lift you above your greatest fears.

CTI will contact the Camylio agent, manager or representative on your behalf to inquire about booking him for your upcoming event.

Kanii & Nimstarr – Time Goes By

Having already amassed millions of streams on his latest EP, exiit, Kanii is poised for a breakout year. The self taught 18-year old multi hyphenate artist from Washington D.C has a refined songwriting technique and a stylistic malleability that allows him to deftly shift from dancefloor energy to skyscraping pop palatability with the sonic flair of an established veteran. In the video for his new single, he and his collaborators, Riovaz & Nimstarr, turn a bowling alley into an anthem of heart racing elation. Watch it HERE. He also dropped his newest EP, it was nice knowing u, in November.

YK Osiris – HEAVEN

YK Osiris is a young male artist who’s been able to rise quickly through the ranks of R&B. He has a raspy voice that gives his music a more hip-hop feel.

Unlike most rappers, YK Osiris is very conscious of how he presents himself. He has spoken about how he tries to surround himself with positivity and has cut people out of his life that bring negativity. He has also been open about his past struggles with drugs and gang violence.

Recently, YK Osiris has been very vocal about how he wants to be a role model for his fans. He recently spoke to high school students in Florida and told them not to idolize rappers, but to keep pursuing education. He also mentioned how he tries to avoid rap beefs.

Kid Laroi – HEAVEN

Despite being only 20, Laroi has already been through many diverse traumatic experiences in his life. The Aussie rapper/singer reflects on these experiences and how they have changed his perspective in HEAVEN.

The track conveys a feeling of unburdening oneself with the help of someone special. He explains that he once felt numb, reckless and that his life was unholy but the presence of one person brought hope and a new appreciation for living.

Camylio fully produced the song himself giving it an intimate and heartfelt sound. Kanii & Nimstarr also dropped a single this week featuring Riovaz. Hardrock blends synthy production with heavy hitting drums on this record. YK Osiris gives us a melodic vocal performance on the gritty instrumental. Megan Thee Stallion delivers floating vocal melodies.

Megan Thee Stallion – HEAVEN

A proud Texan, Megan’s unapologetic use of Southern slang and pronunciation helped her build her fanbase. Her first commercial mixtape Fever and later EP Suga saw her break through, with both projects charting within the top ten of the US Billboard 200.

Megan’s next major release was 2022’s Traumazine, which saw her exploring more introspective themes and personal struggles. The album’s lead single Cobra showcases her artistic growth, departing from the bounce-heavy trap sound of her earlier work to a melancholy guitar-driven production and vulnerable lyrics.

The Houston rapper’s most recent release is a sensual pop anthem and music video for ‘Sweetest Pie’, featuring Dua Lipa. The pair’s stunning visuals see both artists exude confidence and own their sexuality, in a juxtaposition of beautiful and horror elements.
